The Department of Physics, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and the Faculty of Physics, University of Duisburg-Essen will jointly organize an Advanced School on Applications of First-Principles and molecular Simulations in Physical Sciences.

Aims
• Introduction to first-principles methods and molecular simulation methods
• Demonstration of typical application in the Physical Sciences
•Application of nanotechnology in the Physical Sciences
• Team bonding between academics and industries

Topics and Structure of the School
Physical Sciences overview: basics and needs (week 1, talks given by experts)
Physical Sciences meets Condensed Matter Physics (week 2, advanced talks by experts)
Tutorials on Computational Materials Science (weeks 1 and 2)
Hands-on Computational Laboratory on First-Principles, Monte Carlo and Molecular Simulations

Participation
Postgraduate Students and young Scientists from Sub-Sahara Africa are welcome to apply. Bursaries are available to selected participants to complement transportation, feeding and accommodations costs.
